It’s the time of year everyone has been waiting for– Halloween. The beloved holiday offers parties, spooky movies, fun decoration, and of course, candy! As we reflect on this exciting holiday, there's a debate of what the best halloween candy is. From a self-reported random sample, we have obtained the favorites of Reese’s, Twix, Kitkat, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, and Sour Patch Kids.
Sour Patch Kids are not typically the classic halloween candy. When scrounging through the candy you have collected while trick or treating, you may become sick of chocolate given out and come across this sour treat. It is different from what you have been eating, but still a fan favorite outside of halloween time.
In prior experiences, 3 musketeers have filled my bags the most. They are my personal favorite, but have been said to be the last resort when you only have the bad candy left. I believe that it is simple enough to not overload your palette, but isn’t tasteless. It does not contain nuts, so it is enjoyable for many.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is another popular candy for adults and kids alike. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are the perfect combination of peanut butter and chocolate. The flavors mix perfectly together. Although it is so great, it isn’t able to be eaten by many due to the fact that it contains peanut butter. It is still very high up on mine and others’ lists.
Twix is another popular candy. It is one of the few candies given out during halloween that contains caramel. The wafer mixed with the caramel is the perfect touch to the flavor explosion in your mouth. It is also, along with 3 musketeers, given out all throughout halloween night and fills our bags.
The KitKat I would say, is another one of the most popular to be given out and is the third candy that fills your bag the most. It is simple– chocolate with wafers. It is almost equivalent to the Twix, but lacks the sweet taste of caramel. If it is not your favorite, it will be the last to be eaten and sometimes left behind.
Finally, the Milky way is made up of caramel and chocolate. It is almost like a 3 musketeer but with the added splash of caramel. Although it is similar, it is higher up on many people's lists due to the greater amount of flavors than other typical candies.
In conclusion, there is no best Halloween candy. The top bars are too similar and too good to have just one favorite. Every person has their own opinion and the real question is, which candy is your favorite?
